I have an HP pavilion zv6000 with ATI graphics....upon attemting to load EQ i get a message saying I need to download the driver from ati.com which it launches the site but it wont d/l any driver.....anyone have somewhat of a clue whats going on?

Ive been playing just fine till the middle of this raid....I turn around and the monitor freezes...I continue to hear sounds and noises that are happening real time but my monitor is froze....

If anyone can help please do~

although its a card made by ati, could it be propriatory (is that the right word?) to the laptop manufactor? if so you may want to get your vid driver from the laptap makers websight. i know hp used make a pretty fussy machine when i was into puter stuffs. they didnt like anyone elses hardware or drivers.
i know they used to be good at offering drivers and updates on there sight.

I play on a laptop. Seeing that you use HP and ATI both I would say your pretty much fucked.

laptop graphics drivers are proprietary but you can still either get the most up to date from the manufacturers website or go somewhere like laptop2go.com and download a custom one. Using the custom driver you can get the absolute most current since most companies update very slowly however you have to edit the ini for your specific computer. Some websites have drop down menus that make that very easy.

I raided on my laptop via cellphone connection for like 6 months worked fine other then the 1-2 second delay (fun for cheal chains!) but ya most laptop video card drivers are proprietary, you need to DL the drivers from the laptop manufacturer and if you having problems with the picture blanking out after playing a while it's probably overheating, a $30 cooling pad that you put under your laptop can usually fix that problem, also making sure it's on a hard surface and the vents arnt blocked.

If you know what model of card is in your laptop the best place to get would be the ATI website. No computer company that I know of forces to use thier drivers/hardware anymore since so many refused to buy thier products only. That is the reason why Gateway almost went under, they never recovered fully and now only offer multi-media systems that i know of. As far as I know HP uses the drivers that ATI or NVIDIA comes out for thier own brand of hardware. When I had a laptop i had to update drivers a few times (was a eMachine with ATI vid card also) and would always get them from ATI's website.

Mael had a ati 9800 and he kept crashing while playing games. I told hi not to buy it a year ago but he didnt listen. A month or so ago he finally got pissed and throw it in the garbage and bought a geforce.
