Wow that brought back some bad memories. We had a gypsy moth outbreak back in the early 80s. It completely defoliated the northern end of the state and a good portion of the lower end as well. I remember coming home from school and the caterpillars were so thick that I had to use a garden hose to get them off the front door. When they dropped from the trees it sounded like rain. It was sooo gross!
