I am a total Richard Thompson nut. (Wiki him if you haven't heard of one of the great guitarists/songwriters living). Anyway, back in 2000, he was a guest at a Tribute Concert for Joni Mitchell. Another band was to perform "Woodstock." At the last minute, they didn't show and RT stepped up--you can see him reading a prompter (which he never does).

Joni's nod of approval and Richard's Aw Shucks blush at the end are priceless.

FYI--also on youtube is Cyndi Lauper's cover of "Carey" at the same concert, which many consider to have stolen the show.

P.S.

That guitar is made by Lowden Guitars, a small luthier shop in Ireland founded by George Lowden about 40 years ago. I may sell my Martin to get one. Damn exchange rate!
