Royals now 6-2 after winning the first two against the Yankees (yes I was at the game tonight). Zack pitched 8 scoreless innings, this kid is money. It goes without saying, I'm pumped.

Easy there sunshine, it's only 8 games played. If you're in 1st at the all star break I will be impressed.

You are missing the point Brenl, it is not about impressing anyone. I am excited because the team I have followed for decades (yes i'm that old) is on the right track. My prediction for this year was 77 wins, i.e. still below .500. They are a very young team. But what is so exciting is that they are no longer just a joke, they are a competitive team that in the next few years (with some more smart offseason moves and player development) should compete for the AL Central. Taking my son and daughter to a home playoff game (like I used to go to year after year when I was young) is one of my dreams for my kids.

I'm also excited b/c we have won the three game set with the hated Yankees before even playing today's game.

First, gratz Yankee fans on your win last night.

Brenl --- the three "Gs" you have identified are all outstanding young players with game changing talent. Toss in the two "Bs", Butler and Bannister, and Teahen and you have 6 players that all have All Star potential and at least some major league success showing they will reach that potential. The Royals also have a strong young GM in Dayton Moore that has shown the ability to find arms out of thin air. Trading Burgous to the Mets for Bannister was a steal even before Burgous went on the DL for arm surgery.

Again, I'm not crazy in my expectations, but the Royals will be a fun team to watch all year and should get close to .500.

Your points are valid, though I would have to say that Gathright in his 3rd year, still hasn't managed to play more than 80 games in a season, mostly due to injury as far as I can tell, while his numbers aren't super he did bat .300+ for half a season, and is able to swipe a bag nearly at will. Greinke, could be a number 2 starter, maybe even a 1, lets see how he progresses furtherm he still only has 16 starts in 3 years. Gordon, showed some good things this year and in the second half last year. If he lives up to half of his hype he should be your 3rd baseman for the next 10 years, if you can afford to pay him. Your biggest problem is that your playing in either the best of 2nd best division in baseball. Thats 19 game against the Tigers Indians Twins and Sox each. 500 this year should wim Hillman manager of the year.
