Last night about an hour before bed I started dry coughing. And coughing. And coughing. And ...

Really obnoxious. I laid down to sleep and it got to be a whole lot worse and I wanted to cry --- no sleep all week and now I feel better and this happens!? So, grumbling, I picked myself up out of bed and dragged myself over to the comp to look up "dry coughing home remedies". I found a bunch of stuff.... Vicks on your feet and put socks over it... lemon juice and honey... this and that. I guess I coulda done all that but then I read some tiny hole in the universe post that read:

"Just pour a little salt and pepper in your hand and lick it. You won't cough anymore."

Damn. Just like that. I didn't believe it but I tried it because it takes two seconds and it worked. No more cough. Felt a tiny bit like I wanted to but for something so quick and simple, it's great temporary relief. Just thought I'd share.

--------------------------

Your turn! Share some interesting thing you do for common health problems.

I know Midari said wrapping your head tightly in a scarf or strip of material will help migraines. People swear by alum powder on canker sores to cure them in a day. I'm trying that now. Confirmed stuff is good.

Also if you've ever heard of some ridiculous home remedy that you still think is interesting but haven't tried, go for it. Very Happy Should be fun discussion. Maybe some of us have tried eating pickled eggs to cure the flu.

Okay maybe not.

As a child when we would get sick my grandfather would mix up some honey, lemon juice and corn whiskey, heat a bit and serve a table spoon full or two. Stop the cough and put you right out lol.

Dim-Mak and Dit Dat Jow FTW I can cure my own headaches, hiccups, muscle pain, bruising, and sprains all by pressing the correct locations on my body(sometimes its more like a punch lol) and applying a small amount of a tincture externally. Western science has some wonderful treatments... but there is a reason the eastern ways are not being relinquished so easily... alot of them work... no doctor... no prescriptions =). Of course, as with all things it has its limits.

quick heartburn relief is lean to your left side , your stomach tube is on the right side and if you lean left the acids in your stomache cant come up as easily. only a temp fix but can help in a pinch or when your trying to sleep.
