Just got cox cable at my new condo, but I'm having some problems.

I have 2 computers, 1 Linksys/D-link router and a cable modem.

I can connect 1 computer to the internet via the router or connecting directly to the cable modem and it works great, but the 2nd computer is unable to connect to the internet.

If I turn off the 1st computer and hook up the second one, I can connect that computer to the internet through the router or directly to the cable modem.

I am just unable to connect both computers through the router and connect at the same time. Customer support has been completely useless and virtually gave up on me after an hour.

Does anyone have ANY idea what the problem could be? Static IPs? DNS issues? WAN IP addresses?

I had that problem and called lynksis...they talked me through it to get it working.

It could be your transmission....

I think the problem is that you're not playing EQ. It will only work if you play your cleric for us ...say.... 6 nights a week.

Sounds like duplicate IP addresses to me... can u access your computer on your home network, not including internet.

I can access the internet through each computer separately either via the router or direct-connect, just not at the same time. Both settings are to "automatically detect ip address". Should I manually set each?

you sir are correct

though you shouldnt actually have to do this, i had a few problems when i first set mine up but restarting the computers and reseting the router with it all connected fixed itself for me second time i got new internet and modems gluck to you

Now in the midsts of dealing with technical support, they've had me set up one IP address manually, yet it still didn't work. So I'll try setting up both and give it a whirl. Thanks for your help!

I'd have to agree with Mandaar here, clearly your transmission.

Or perhaps your good Karma has caused a rift and now your dharma is falling and effecting your router/cable.

Might check the solar alignments too and see if that could be the source.
