Some how some of you brainiacs will do:
Three men rent 1 hotel room for $30.
Each men pay $10.
The room was only $25, so the owner tells this boy to give the remaining $5 back to the men. On the way there, the boy pockets $2 and hands the men $1 back.
So how much did the men each pay for the room? $10each
They each got back $1, making it $9 each right?
$9 x 3 (men) =$27 right?!
plus $2 dollars the boy pocketed = $29
so where did the extra dollar go?
Enjoy!! My dad told me this one when I was a little girl =)

It didn't go anywhere.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be answering a trick question, but all 30 dollars is still there.
The men have 3, the boy has 2 and the owner has 25.
I will think about it if you are saying there's a trick ending I'm supposed to find.
The amount paid is meant to trick people into not looking at it as a series of sums.
Money the men have + Money the boy has + Money the owner has = 30.
3 + 2 + 25 = 30. |

Misinformation you gave us!
Took me a while but here it is:
They pay a total of $27. Subtract the boy's $2, not add it.
So the total amount put forth in this problem is $27. $25 goes to the room, $2 goes to the boy.
*The $3 handed back to the men is subtracted from $30 to get the total amount spent --> $27. |
